The Irish Kennel Club is recognised worldwide as the official authority for the registration of Pedigree Dogs in Ireland. Its Microchip Data Base is recognised by the Irish Government and is part of EUROPETNET, used for locating dogs worldwide. By organising Exhibitions, Obedience Training and Trials, Agility Contests, Field Trials and many other activities the IKC endeavours to promote all that is positive about dogs.
The Irish Kennel Club’s main aim is the promotion, protection and development of all dogs, with particular emphasis on pure bred Pedigree dogs regarding function, health and the value that dogs bring to Society. These have led us to develop strong links with Animal Welfare Organisations, Veterinary Associations, Canine Assistance Organisations and Government Depts. We have a ‘Code of Conduct’ for our members who are breeding dogs which has the health and the welfare of the dogs as a priority.
